Brief Overview:
The Polish giants of Virtus.Pro have not been having a good last few months. The team has been very solid throughout last year and have cemented themselves as a top five team. They have won a couple of big titles during 2015, however, the Poles hit a slump at the end of the very same year. After winning the CEVO Season 8 Professional Finals they have started to get worse. The next event they attended, FaceIT 2015 Stage 3 Finals, they still put up a decent performance, getting into the semi-finals and taking a map off of fnatic just to loose the BO3 2:1.
After the two great displays in November, the team decided to take a break from competetive play deciding to take a break, not even practicing for a few weeks. After that period of time the team has not come back the same. They have crashed out from the next two LAN tournaments loosing to teams like mousesports and dignitas. After that V.P were set to play a series of online games as a part of the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 3. V.P have not had a strong start to it, loosing the first two games against FaZe Clan. That start has set a theme for their following games with the team's match score currently sitting at 0-8.
Despite all the bad results VP had recently both on LAN and online, there are still a few bright points in their team, Neo and TaZ have both had impressive games and you could argue that they've been the best players on the roster. The most important figure that has to step their game up, if VP want to do anything at this event, is snax. Snax has been their best player for the entirety of 2015, having won a lot of clutch rounds and being able to consistantly put up big numbers, he has now disappeared and needs to pull Virtus.Pro from the slump. IEM: Katowice 2016 is VP's best chance at showing everyone that they still matter.
Fun facts:
- Filip "Neo" Kubski has statistically been VP's best performing player during the last few months and being the only player with a positive K/D ratio.
- Janusz "snax" Pogorzelski has statistically been VP's best player during all of 2015, slumping to the worst of 2016.
- Virtus.Pro have not won a single map in 2016, loosing 12 games in a row.
- This will be Virtus' third showing at the IEM Katowice tournament and the first one with the event not being a major.
