Brief Overview:
The Asian CS:GO scenes has historically been one of the most under-served regions, all the more the surprising as it is home to some of the biggest names in eSports and one of the most active in eSports in general. For the majority of fans, most teams from countries such as China and Vietnam have almost zero name recognition with few exceptions.
The Mongolz are one of those exceptions however, having rapidly risen to the top after swapping out three of their players in November of last year by bringing in Enkhtaivan "Machinegun" Lkhagv, Otgonjargal "Otgoo" Ganzorig, and Bold "ncl" Batsuh. Since then, the Mongolz have proven themselves as one of the best Asian teams and serious contender on the international stage, recently coming in first at IEM Taipei by taking out (an albeit weak) Renegades 2-0 to take first place and securing a spot at MLG Columbus. This was a landmark moment for the team, as in the past the team had only had placed well at events featuring solely Asian competition; their recent success' seems to indicate the team's performance will only go up from here. Their rivals at this time are the Chinese Tyloo, who were booted from the Taipei event after it was discovered that Quanqing "qz" Wu had a VAC ban on a previous account, but the two teams have been both vying for the position as the region's kings up to that point.
Fun Facts:
- The Mongolz have won over 80% of their Terrorist halves in matches since November
- IEM Taipei was the first tournament where the team won more than $500 in prize money, taking home $6,000.
- Enkhtaivan "Machinegun" Lkhagv has been playing CS for over ten years, starting in 1.6.
