What are the GosuRankings?

The GosuRankings is the most extensive player and team database in existence for CS:GO. Fueled by the GosuGamers tournament database which currently spans over more than 285 tournaments, the CS:GO rankings track teams’ career-long performance in all tournaments, qualifiers and show matches they take part in and appoints them a certain numbers. The rankings also take into account the so called “tournament importance” meaning winning the Major tournament means more than coming out on top of a weekly open cup.

Below, we take a look at the bigger events that happened in the month of July.

  • Note 1: July's results aren't solely responsible for the final rankings; they merely add to players' lifetime career performances.
  • Note 2: Tournament importance varies even within a particular tier (i.e. not all tier 2 events are equal)
  • Note 3: Tiers are NOT the official way of determining/naming tournament importance by GosuCrew. These are used so that some basic mechanics of the system are articulated better to our readers.

World's top 3

All ranking numbers are as of  July 1st. It's possible that rankings have changed since publication.

Nothing new at the first place of our editorial rankings. Although they didn't play a big portion of the matches throughout the previous month, the Swedes still remained at a very high win rate – 71%. They had 10 wins and four loses only, where three out of these four loses they suffered during FACEIT LAN finals. It's hard to tell if Cloud9's or CLG's victory was the bigger upset against Fnatic, but either way they both showed that Fnatic is actually vulnerable.

Once again Fnatic proved a great consistency. Although they lost in the initial match of ESL ESEA Pro League LAN finals, they still gathered enough power to grind their way through the lower bracket and win the whole event. However, it stays written that they still were stopped at one of the biggest LAN finals during the last month, FACEIT. The next month will be a real test for Fnatic and their actual strength as they will try to grab a second major title of 2015.

There have been a lot dust raised about the best Danish team at the current scene. However, Team Solomid didn't drop a lot in their performance during July and they have deservedly earned a second spot at our editorial rankings. Failing to stop Fnatic at the biggest LAN of the previous month, ESL ESEA Pro League, TSM found a graind of consolation in the second biggest event, FACEIT. TSM scored another big victory and have strengthen their spot at the rankings.

The overall month weren't so great for karrigan and team as they had only 53% win rate, losing seven out of 15 games. But, still some of their victories were a very impactful that kept them at the high place in the rankings. Moreover, it's important to mention that there was a big debate during the first days of August about TSM. ESL kept TSM out of their list of invitees for Dubai $250,000 event which raised opposing opinions among the community.

The biggest surprise of the previous month is a team which is coming from North American soil. Cloud9 managed to grab a runner-up position at three the biggest LAN events of the previous month. July started off very well for them in Germany where they made some shocking results, like defeating EnVyUs twice during the event. Still, they were short to win the grand prize and Fnatic claimed the throne and they were left with the second place. This result just encouraged them more as they managed to repeat it once again at FACEIT and ESWC tournaments.

Same as the other top teams, Cloud9 played only 20 matches during July. Still, they had a very respectful 70% win rate with 14 wins and only six loses. The North American pride even got themselves in the top 3 of the live rankings but they had to drop a bit lower as it was hard to compete to the European teams who are also playing a larger number of the bigger events.

Live rankings' top 10

July was a month with a lot of fluctuations among the top 10 teams in our live rankings. The only intact team was Fnatic, who is still sitting as a sovereign ruler at the top. The second place was snatched by Virtus.pro who still had a lot better win rate than Team Solomid through the previous month. However, the point difference is to close and it's highly expected to see TSM back at their old place.

The team which we saw in the least action was Ninjas in Pyjamas. The famous Swedish superhouse kept the fourth place exactly because of this reason. They didn't had some high impactful matches which would cause them to lose points, so after the dust settled and Cloud9 still lost some matches they ended up once place above the very good North Americans.

Team EnVyUs was also lacking in action during July which was followed with a roster change. The French teams swapped two players of each and both Titan and EnVyUs are yet to show how will this turn out for both teams. However, kept a pretty decent sixth place at July's rankings with only one place above Natus Vincere. The Ukrainian team was the most active one throughout the July. They played a lot of matches, some with more and some with less success. But, the overall judgement is that they were pretty decent which awarded them the seventh place at our rankings.

HellRaisers finally managed to win their much-anticipated LAN title at Acer Master LAN finals. They took down the home crowd team Mousesports which have actually boosted them over the German team in the rankings. We can see now that HellRaisers are sitting on eight place, while they are being followed by Mousesports and Team Dignitas.
