Casting is hard, harder than most people realize. Mitch 'UberShouts' Leslie gives us some insights into how he could improve his own cast.
We all know that teams review their gameplay but what about casters? Well they also review their ‘gameplay’ to see where they can improve. If you have ever been interested in casting you should have a look at Mitch ‘UberShouts” Leslie’s casting review. It is exactly what it sounds like. He replays the VODs of games that he casted and does a play by play about what he is saying; giving everyone more respect for the casters who help us watch the games we love. The art (or is it a science) is much harder than it appears to be.
Anyone who is interested in getting into casting, or just wants to understand how they do it, should give these videos and those made other casters a look. Above is his review of one of his BlizzCon casts, Finland vs Russia. This was a great match between 2 of the powerhouses at the tournament. The video is 2 hours long because he pauses the match and goes through the things that he said and explains why parts of what he said shouldn’t be said, or when he should have said things that he didn’t. One of the most interesting things in this video is when he explains how the casters interact and how they play off of one another; revealing roles that you might not realize exist within casting.
