The European portion of matches for the Overwatch World Cup concluded this past week, with the top 12 teams ready to advance to the next stage of competition. Don't worry if you missed the action; we have a recap for you!

After 30 European teams were divided into 6 groups of 5 teams each, the pecking order in Europe was established. After a stage of round robin pools, each group had 2 teams advance to the next stage of competition: a knockout style bracket that seeds into a 6-team LAN stage.

All the top seeds that qualified:

  • Germany
  • Finland
  • France
  • Sweden
  • Russia
  • Spain

All the second seeds that qualified:

  • Cis & Baltic
  • Iceland
  • Norway
  • Turkey
  • Italy
  • Benelux

While some great players were unable to advance to the next round, Overwatch truly is a team game. The teams that meshed the best managed to move on in the competition, and they will participate in the knockout stage in order to earn a spot at Blizzcon.

You can tell just how excited qualified players were by looking at their Twitter accounts!

The true prize is an all-expense paid trip to Blizzcon on November 5, where teams will compete in a LAN format in front of a crowd. The tournament provides an opportunity for pros and content creators to finally meet overseas fans, as well as compete for glory in the name of their country.
