In this series from GosuGamers, we are going to help introduce some of the best players that Overwatch already has to offer. Because of the arena shooter scene, many of the current top players have been competing in a variety of similar games over the years. This is especially true for the current no. 4 team on our GosuRankings: Team EnVyUs. These player profiles will provide you information on previous competitive history (including team history) as well as a short highlight of the player's Overwatch preferences.

Gaming History

Minstrel is a core member of Team EnvyUs (formerly Team Hubris), and specialises as the secondary support alongside Ras. But before Minstrel joined Team Hubris he had already spent a lot of time in other arena shooters. He took his first step into the highly competitive genre in 2003, with the Half Life 1 mod Natural Selection. From there he found himself drifting from TF2 to Monday Night Combat with decent success before eventually ending up playing Firefall, where he attracted the attention of Team Hubris and began to have some great success.

He first played for the team in 2013 during the time of Team Hubris’ dominance in the short-lived competitive scene of Firefall. After Firefall he continued to play with them during their short stint in Nosgoth and stuck with them during the days of Dirty Bomb despite the team never truly grouping up to try and take a tournament. With the announcement of Overwatch, Minstrel and Team EnvyUs have found the game for them.

Minstrel’s experience with a variety of unique class-based arena shooters will serve him well as he and Team EnvyUs continue on their path to be the best in Overwatch. Minstrel’s love of support heroes that can also frag make him enjoy the likes of Lúcio and Zenyatta. More than ten years of competitive fps knowledge will assist him in his positioning, predictions, and playmaking as the support for Team EnvyUs.

Quickfire questions:
Capture points or Control points? Capture points because you get to capture them.
Support more important than fraggers? Support can only do so much before you need a fragger's DPS.
What one ability would you add to your favorite hero? Add Tracer's Blink to Lucio!

As long as Minstrel has been playing Overwatch he has been playing Lúcio, as is befitting of his name. Tune into nearly any Team EnvyUs game and you can be sure that Minstrel is playing Lúcio. Because of this he is incredibly comfortable on the hero, able to consistently make plays and get frags despite such things normally being considered difficult for the support role. Despite not being very diverse in the heroes he plays, Minstrel brings great knowledge from his past. Even though he may not shine as often as Talespin or Stoop, his consistent play makes him an anchor for the team. No matter what happens, Team EnvyUs can rely on Minstrel to bring the same high level of play to the team every time.
