Stream recap: Genshin Impact Version 7.0 reveals new Snezhnaya characters, activities, and more
The highly-anticipated update will finally bring players to the frozen landscape of Snezhnaya this 12 August.
The upcoming Genshin Impact Version 7.0, “Everwinter Without Mercy”, is almost here, and with it comes the snowy land of Snezhnaya!
As one of–if not the–most anticipated version updates for Genshin Impact, there's definitely tons to see and look forward to when Version 7.0 drops on 12 August. Besides Snezhnaya's map, players will experience new content, like new quests, a new type of gameplay, and new playable characters in Odette and Alyosha, plus much more.

What are the character banners coming to Genshin Impact Version 7.0?
Odette and Alyosha will debut in Version 7.0 (Image: HoYoverse).With Snezhnaya's winter chill right around the corner, travelers will be able to kickstart their journey with the arrival of Odette to the playable character roster!
Odette is a new character introduced in Snezhnaya, where she lives a double life as both a celebrated ballet dancer and a member of the Fatui, once serving under the now-deceased La Signora.
As a playable character, Odette is a 5-star with a preference for the sword. She wields a Cryo “Stellar Linchpin”, and her kit is tailored toward providing damage buffs to the recently-introduced “Stellar Glimmer” reactions. She will be the only new 5-star character for this update.
She will be joined by Alyosha, a 4-star Electro polearm character. Alyosha is a hunter who is accompanied by his canine, Tugarin. As a playable character, he is a healer and a buffer for Stellar-Conduct reactions. Alyosha will also be a free character you can invite after completing part of Snezhnaya's Archon Quest.
Besides Odette and Alyosha, previous 5-star characters will also get their reruns. Arlecchino will run with Odette and Alyosha, while Flins and Ineffa will figure into the second half.
What are the weapon banners running in Genshin Impact Version 7.0?
The weapon banner will feature Odette's signature sword, the White Lake Winterfeather. Reruns for Arlecchino, Flins, and Ineffa's signature weapons will also be in order.

What can players expect in Snezhnaya?
Besides the bitter, eternal cold, Snezhnaya is presented as a nation of rebellion. With the extreme natural conditions of the region, and a desire to survive, Snezhnaya's capital, Snezhnograd, was built by the genius and devotion of its Belyi Tsar. The towering city is accessible through train, a first for Genshin Impact's existing modes of transport.
Another lore bomb that was dropped during the preview is that every Snezhnayan is descended from the Tsaritsa herself. But how does this change her character so far? We'll have to find out.
And yes, for the Dragonspine haters out there, Snezhnaya has the same cold mechanic. Better have your Pyro characters at the ready!
Cryo Traveler
Unlike Natlan, where we had to complete a few of the Archon Quests to finally get our hands on the Pyro element, travellers will be able to harness the power of Cryo from the get-go by just resonating with the Tsaritsa's Statue of the Seven.
Alongside the arrival of the Cryo traveler, a new elemental reaction will be introduced for the Stellar Glimmer series with Stellar Swirl. This time, when a character with a Stellar Linchpin triggers a Cryo and Anemo reaction, a vortex called the Stellar Vortex will be created, leading to more Cryo damage against enemies.
New gameplay
Cryo Traveller with their new outfits (Image: HoYoverse).We've all seen the sneak peek of the traveler wielding a gun in a previous Snezhnaya teaser, and it's confirmed that players will finally get to experience Genshin Impact's take on TPS (Third-Person Shooting) with Version 7.0.
A new device, called “The Eye of Graeae” will allow travelers to summon Snezhnaya's trains while standing near a railway, access their current firearm loadout, plus other gameplay related features like altering the environment, and more. The TPS mode also introduces a new, unique outfit for the Traveller.
The TPS gameplay is locked only to Snezhnaya, and players can partake in a number of varied challenges in special locations called “Shadow Realms” to further customise and enhance your preferred firearm.
New quests
Tsaritsa alongside Vesna and Danica (Image: HoYoverse).Snezhnaya will feature its own Archon Quest line like the other nations, and will also open a slew of new world quests to discover as you explore the region.
With the Pyro Gnosis the only one missing, the Tsaritsa is inching ever closer to her ultimate goal. However, darker powers are at play in Senzhnaya, and with what looks like Paimon falling under a mysterious ailment, and Ronova making herself known as our enemy, there's definitely more to this tale than it seems. What will happen? What will we discover? We'll find out soon enough.
Other than the standard quests, new Meeting Point quests for Odette, Alyosha, and Vodyanista will also be made available, each with their own secrets and rewards.
New enemies
Judging from the trailer and the livestream, it looks like we're finally facing off against Ronova, the Shade of Death. By the significance of her appearance and goals, we can expect Ronova to be a weekly boss who will drop valuable loot for Snezhnayan characters.
Additionally, two new world bosses will be introduced. They are: The Chimeric Winged Lion, and Immortal Construct.

To Temper Thyself and Journey Far will add new characters to the roster for a Stella Fortuna, which includes characters from Fontaine, the whole list of characters are: Lyney, Wriothesley, Navia, Xianyun, Chiori, Sigewinne, Clorinde, Emilie, and Yumemizuki Mizuki
