Version Luna I is finally allowing players to uncap Level 100…for a steep price.

Genshin Impact’s long awaited Version 6.0, officially now known as Version Luna I, revealed some exciting new content and optimisations ahead of its release on 10 September, 2025.

But what really caught player attention is the fact that Level 100 will now be attainable in-game. That is, if you’re a whale.

Yep, you read that right, Level 100 is only accessible to players who have spent an inordinate amount of money on Genshin Impact’s banners.

The main requirement to uncap level 100 is having access to a new item coming into Version Luna I: the Masterless Stella Fortuna. As the name of the item suggests, it is basically an excess ‘Stella Fortuna’ that can only be received when you have extra copies of a 5-star character’s constellations.

This means that if you’ve already maxed out a 5-star character’s constellations, which is capped at six copies, you will readily have your hands on Masterless Stella Fortuna–given that you pulled another, unusable copy of said 5-star character.

This mechanic has left the Genshin Impact community in confusion and dissatisfaction, mainly because certain groups believe that the Masterless Stella Fortuna caters more towards the elite few who are able to shell out enough money to pull in every character banner they can.

But other members of the community have pointed out that the Level 100 uncapping won’t necessarily affect the overall gameplay experience. Fan calculations have hypothesised that Level 100 will only net a 5 to 8% DPS increase, with transformative reactions getting the bigger boost at 40%. Ideally, Level 100 will not cause much of a difference when it comes to gameplay, that is unless Genshin Impact decides to change the metagame for end-game content like Spiral Abyss or Imaginarium Theatre.

Characters with kits dependent on base stats get an additional boost

To reiterate, the damage increase at Level 100 is likely anything but game-changing. However, if you’re the type of player who wants as much damage and/or healing as they can possibly get, then characters with kits wholly dependent on their base or overall stats will benefit the most out of maxing their level to 100.

For example: the four-star character Bennett–whose attack bonus capability during his burst, “Fantastic Voyage” is based solely on his Base Attack stat–will likely see a support-capability increase once he is levelled to 100.

As such, the 5-star characters worth maxing to Level 100 (or at least, will net you some personal satisfaction in doing so) are:

Character  Element Why Level 100 is viableArataki IttoGeoItto's kit is dependent on his max DEF.ArlecchinoPyroArlecchino's Bond of Life mechanic is dependent on 130% of her Max HP, which includes HP from artifact stats and Base HP.BaizhuDendroBaizhu's Passive Talent “All Things Are of the Earth” buff, ‘Year of Verdant Favor’, will provide an increase to Burning, Bloom Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction damage dependent on 1,000 HP beyond 50,000.DehyaPyroThanks to Dehya's C1 “The Flame Incandescent”, the damage of her skill will be increased by 3.6% of her Max HP. Additionally, her Burst damage is dependent on both her base ATK and Max HP. EmilieDendroEmilie's support capability, mainly her off-field Dendro DMG through her Lumidouce Cases, are dependent on her ATK.EscoffierCryoEscoffier's construct, the Cooking Mek, depends on a percentage of her total ATK. FurinaHydroFurina's support capability, meaning her damage increase and healing, through her skill and burst is dependent on her total Max HP. Hu TaoPyroHu Tao's kit solely relies on providing a massive attack buff based on her total HP. IneffaElectroIneffa's shield absorbency depends on her total ATK, while her first ascension passive allows her to deal additional DMG based on 65% of her ATK. JeanAnemoJean's healing scales off of her ATK. Kamisato AyatoHydroAyato is dual-scaling, meaning his kit depends on both his ATK and HP. KeqingElectroKeqing's Skill and Burst DMG are dependent on her ATK, especially with her C1.KleePyroKlee's Burst has a special mechanic at C4 that allows her to deal 555% of her ATK as AoE Pyro DMG, once she leaves the field while her Burst is still active. MavuikaPyroSince Mavuika's Skill converts her Normal ATK to Pyro DMG, her ATK plays a massive role in the DMG she can inflict. MualaniHydroMualani's kit depends on her Max HP, specifically when her Skill converts her Normal Attacks to Sharky's Bites.NaviaGeoNavia's DMG scales off of her ATK.Sangonomiya KokomiHydroKokomi's healing and damage capabilities solely rely on her Max HP.ShenheCryoShenhe's kit is dependent on her ATK.SigewinneHydroSigewinne's healing is dependent on a percentage of her Max HP.SkirkCryoSkirk benefits well with additional ATK seeing as her Constellations provide additional instances of DMG that scale off of her total ATK.VaresaElectroVaresa's kit depends on her ATK, with additional instances of DMG dependent on a percentage of her total ATK.WandererAnemoSince Wanderer's DMG is dependent on his Normal ATKs, additional ATK may provide some DPS increase. Additionally, his passives allow him to fire wind arrows that will convert 35% of his ATK to Anemo DMG, with an additional 25% once C1 is unlocked. WriothesleyCryoWriothesley's self-healing capability through his attack strings is dependent on his Max HP. XianyunAnemoXianyun's support capability through her Burst is further buffed, with her healing based on her total ATK. Additionally, her fourth ascension passice will provide increased plunge DMG to your party by 200% of her ATK. XilonenGeoXilonen's damage and support capabilities are dependent on her total DEF. YelanHydroYelan's DMG through her Normal, Skill, and Burst attacks are dependent on her max HP. ZhongliGeoZhongli's shield strength and Burst power is dependent on his Max HP.

Additionally, characters whose damage and/or support capability depend on Elemental Mastery are also viable, as the damage dealt by transformative reactions and the damage boost by additive reactions, as well as the HP of crystallised shields are based on the triggering party's level. So yes, characters like Kaedehara Kazuha, Yae Miko, Venti, and more are also options.

The best way for you to fully come to a decision as to who you should level up with Masterless Stella Fortuna is by considering:

  • The state of Genshin Impact's endgame content meta.
  • The direction that Genshin Impact might take in future versions.

However, we'll always advocate for the idea of: level up who you want to level up; it's your account, anyway!
