Ineffa debuts, Mualani, Chasca, Citlali reruns

Ineffa is a 5-star Electro polearm character (Image: HoYoverse).

A new 5-star character is joining the playable roster with Ineffa, an Electro-wielding android girl from the distant land of Nod-Krai, an autonomous region located in the southernmost part of Schnezhnaya.

Considering that Version 5.8 will be the final patch before continuing our journey into the freezing land of winter, Ineffa will be an introductory character that will ease players into what to expect for Schneznhayan playable characters.

Ineffa will wield a polearm as her weapon of choice, and will act as a subDPS in party compositions. Ineffa will also introduce a new type of elemental reaction to the game: Lunar-Charged. The Lunar-Charged reaction converts from Electro-Charged, in turn boosting its base damage, as well as triggering Critical hits, a first for the elemental reactions system in-game.

Alongside Ineffa’s debut, Mualani will also have a rerun in the first half of the version. Meanwhile, Citlali and Chasca will run in the second half with their own rerun banners.

The weapon banner will also feature Ineffa’s 5-star signature, “Fractured Halo”, alongside Mualani’s “Surf’s Up” in the first half, while in the second half will be Chasca’s “Astral Vulture’s Crimson Plumage”, and Citlali’s “Starcaller’s Watch”.

Ineffa will also receive a new character quest which will include the long-awaited appearance of another Fatui harbinger: Sandrone, aka The Marionette!

New map: Mare Jivari

The Bakunawa will be a new enemy featured in Mare Jivari (Image: HoYoverse).

You read that right, the once fabled ruined land of Mare Jivari will finally be made available in Version 5.8!

Described as a “sea of ashes where the wind does not blow”, Mare Jivari is a dangerous, inhospitable region located at the westernmost area of Natlan, where even the bravest of adventurers have second thoughts before trying to explore.

However, it looks like Mare Jivari will be a separate map in Genshin Impact, probably taking from the fact that Mare Jivari disappeared off the face of Teyvat some years prior to the game’s events–a mystery that we will have to unravel as we explore this new region.

Additionally, a new ancient monster will be introduced in Mare Jivari: the “Bakunawa”, an immortal creature created by “Gold”.

The livestream also confirmed that only a section of Mare Jivari will be explorable in Version 5.8, with further areas expanding in future updates.

New summer event “Sunspray Summer Resort”, Yelan and Bennett skins, and more

With Version 5.8 comes new character skins! Both Yelan and Bennett will feature new outfits for Travelers to collect. Bennett’s skin, “Adventures in Blazing Hue”, will be unlockable through the summer event “Sunspray Summer Resort”.

The resort, called “Easy Breeze Holiday Resort”, will feature four additional locations: Wavey Bay, Guiztli Ridge, Colorfall Cliffs, and Tete Isle.

The summer event may be a little late, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be fun! The event promises a wide array of unique gameplay, rewards (including an event-exclusive 4-star claymore), and exhilarating challenges for Travelers to enjoy, including a new creature called “Asha” to be interacted with!

Additionally, the location will become a permanent feature to the game, as it is considered a Story Quest.

However, the mini-games (including the rewards) are only exclusive to Version 5.8:

  • Travels are Fuller with Friends - a platformer minigame
  • Challenge Through the Eye of the Storm - a sharp-shooting minigame
  • With Flying (Graffiti) Colors - a co-op spray-painting minigame
  • A Feast for the Senses - a musical fighting game.

Besides the permanent summer getaway, a new Archon Quest, “Song of the Welkin Moon Prelude: The Journey Home” is dropping to act as a prologue to Nod-Krai, which will be the region that will come once Version 6.0 finally becomes playable. There’s a lot of new juicy lore drops to look forward to!

Meanwhile, Yelan will receive a Fontaine-style skin “Tranquil Banquet”  through a new event called “Tracing Vanishing Trails”. The skin will be purchasable, with a special discount lasting the entirety of Version 5.8.

Other events to look forward to are:

  • Mementos of Teyvat: Prelude of the Frozen Veil - a photography event
  • An update to Repertoire of Myriad Melodies, which includes a new instrument and new scores
  • New Genius Invokation TCG enemies in Natlan, as well as new character and support cards
  • Leyline Overflow - for additional Mora and Character EXP materials

Nod-Krai teased

The livestream ended with a gorgeous sneak-peek of Nod-Krai, the next upcoming region before our journey to Schenzhnaya finally begins. The video featured two female characters, ethereal spirit animals, and a glowing blue mountain paired with a breathtaking starry backdrop.

Nod-Krai is described as a place where people from all over Teyvat gather, and is sometimes painted as hostile due to its harsh environment and lack of protective and regulative forces aside from the Voynich Guild. All the beauty in the sneak-peek might as well be just eye candy--but there's more to uncover as we go about our journey.
