Genshin Impact recasts Sucrose voice actor in Version 5.8 update

The news surfaced before Version 5.8 went live.
Genshin Impact Version 5.8 debuted today with the announcement that the English voice actress for Sucrose, Valeria Rodriguez, has been recast. The decision was apparently leaked a few days before the version update went live, as it first made rounds in a reddit post at r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks.
Rodriguez was one of the voice actors who expressed negative sentiments (a couple of thumbs down emojis) about the Kinich recast back in March, although they had also been at odds with the fan community on the internet on multiple occasions, even before the issue became apparent.
Sucrose’s new VA under wraps
Although no explicit reason by HoYoverse or Rodriguez was given regarding the recast, Rodriguez took the time to publish a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the decision, where they thanked those who supported them during their time as the character.
The heartfelt message was followed with a few jabs at the fan community they had frequently clashed with, and a confirmation of other roles that fans supportive of them could look forward to, ending their role as Sucrose on a positive, hopeful note.
The replacement voice actor however, has decided to remain anonymous. This is most likely to avoid any backlash, considering the barely resolved issues within the American voice acting community, particularly within the Genshin Impact cast.
Rodriguez’s recast follows after the Paimon and Keqing recast, where controversial voice actors Corina Boettger, who voiced Paimon, and Kayli Mills, who voiced Keqing, were replaced in Version 5.7. Both replacements for these actors have also chosen to remain anonymous.
