WePlay! Esports return to the forefront of gaming with the introduction of the WePlay! Ultimate Fighting League.

Having closed out 2020 with a superb Mortal Kombat 11 LAN event, WePlay! Dragon Temple, WePlay! Esports have decided to move their fighting tournament hopes onwards and upwards as they add more games into the mix. Beginning on March 25 and running through to April 11, 2021, WePlay! Ultimate Fighting League (WUFL) is set to bring us action from the aforementioned Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7 and SOULCALIBUR VI.

Three Games, Three Prize Pools, Three Champions

With three times as much carnage as before, WePlay! have also confirmed that WUFL will feature a huge prize pool of $150,000, split evenly across all three games. Here is a breakdown of when you can see the action from each game:

Mortal Kombat 11: March 25th - 28th

SOULCALIBUR VI: April 1st - 4th

Tekken 7: April 8th – 11th

WePlay! Ultimate Fighting League will also, much like its predecessor, be a LAN event – with the organisers promising to take massive undertakings in ensuring the safety of all participants as we head to the WePlay! Esports Arena Kyiv for the duration of the tournament. While no audience will be permitted at the venue, all staff and players will be tested for COVID-19, keeping health concerns under control.

While there are thousands of players globally who would love to show off their talents in the featured games at the WUFL, the event has had to be made invite-only, especially with the currently ongoing global pandemic. James Banks, the mastermind behind the WePlay! Ultimate Fighting League, had the following to say on the tournament,

The inaugural season of the WePlay Ultimate Fighting League is invitation only. We know that isn’t ideal, and we want to showcase the best players in the world through our league, but our commitment to the FGC is more than just one season. We have a multi-year plan for the league, and this is just the beginning. I know many of you want to showcase your skills and have a chance to compete in the biggest and best fighting league you have seen. I promise you, you will have that chance.

Due to the current state of the world and the safety precautions we created, we have each title as a 16 player invite-only tournament. The top players from each event will stay, and we will then hold open qualifiers worldwide with slots for each season going forward.

We have plans to help new players and up-and-coming pro players compete in cups and tournaments that we set up to grow the FGC ecosystem for each of the titles we work with.

For now, we must focus on the current state of the world and keep safety as a number one priority. We will continue to observe and address this as we move forward with the other seasons we have planned for 2021.

With only a day left until the first 16 combatants get their MK11 action underway, you can be sure to keep up with all the action as WePlay! Ultimate Fighting League teams up with DashFight to bring us coverage and exclusive content from the tournament. You can also find all the action over on the WUFL Twitch page, as well as their Twitter page.
