According to a tweet owner Martin Phan following team's elimination from LCS yesterday , "team MRN is dead for now". Detailed statement to follow.
During the Spring qualifiers, MRN took the very last train into Season 3, walking out of the group after victories against Cloud9 and Azure Gaming, then falling to Brunch Club (later acquired by Complexity and in turn eliminated from the LCS during recent relegations) but trouncing Dirt Nap Gaming in the last chance game. Although playing more than decently during the Spring season itself and securing a good track record against top teams (CLG in particular, whom they beat three out of four times), MRN ended up seventh in the rankings, 3% lower than GGU. This sent MRN directly down to relegation where they would play Velocity eSports - a match they would eventually lose 2-3 after a close back and forth series. Losing the relegation match meant MRN would not be a part of the Summer split of the LCS and, as a result, not being entitled to the pro team's salary coming from Riot Games. With its players essentially out of a job, team owner Martin "Marn" Phan announced MRN's disbandment for the time being:
It was fun times. Thanks to my real for letting me live my dream for 3 years. Team MRN is dead for now. Will have full blog write up later.
— MaRN ??? (@MarnORZ) May 12, 2013This is actually MRN's third disbandment since the team was founded in June 2012. Its first dissolution came the very same month, only to be reformed two months later, in August 2012 with djWheat as their manager. After just one month, MRN announced disbandment once again but the roster was reformed in December for the purpose of LCS qualifiers. Since MRN's founding more than ten players have passed through its ranks (including names like Nickwu, Cruzerthebruzer, MegaZero, Nientonsoh and more), with jungler ClakeyD the only one to be with the team from beginning till end.
