After seven consecutive victories, STX finally meet their match: Boxer's SK Telecom who took the hard-fought series 4-3.
Solid Protoss plays gave start to the series, headlined by Brown's WoL-esque soul-push against Hyvaa, giving SKT the early edge. Said early edge was quite short-lived, however, as Dear had a thing or two to say on the matter, blazing out Brown in a standard macro colossus war and ending soO with a 3-base immortal/stalker/colossus death ball.
Down 1-2, SKT called for their Terran ace in Fantasy and their decision paid off immediately, although not to the extent they were likely hoping. Using hellbats to tank for his bio and melt down chargelots, Fantasy cast Dear away only to fall to the beefy archon-centric army of Classic which found no trouble cutting through that very same composition.
Fantasy has banked enough firepower to send Dear home
One loss away from giving STX Soul their eighth victory in a row, SKT resolved to their go-to Protoss ace Rain. Another classic war of the worlds scenario followed to put the score back into balance and a 2-base +1/+1 timing attack followed to rip Innovation apart in the last game on Akilon Wastes, securing the 4-3 for SK Telecom.
Innovation's plan to take and saturate his third fall apart as Rain strikes for the jugular
At the end of R5W1, Woongjin are still keeping the lead and are five wins ahead of everybody else in the top four at 21-9 and +37 points. The three runner-ups - all tied 16-14 - are ordered by points as follows: KT Rolster and 2nd, SK Telecom at 3rd and STX Soul and 4th place.
