DreamHack Summer is less than two months away and so the preparations and qualifiers of every participating HoN region are in full swing. The SEA qualifier is down to five potential competitors that could represent the region in Sweden.
It was the shock of the Malaysian Qualifier for the DreamHack event when the favorites of Orange eSports went down to Anti Moon Queen in the Quarterfinals. The team that traveled to DreamHack twice and was the first ever team from the SEA region to reach the Semifinals was out of the race, out of the conversation about DreamHoN Summer 2013. Instead their rivals Anti Moon Queen with former ORGE members wangwang_ and imba`kzai can still dream of the journey to Jönköping.
Only four other teams are standing in their way, four teams from the Garena.SEA regions Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. Some surprises happened in those regions as well. Not nxL Focus eSports came out of the Indonesian regional qualifiers, but the new team Why Mad upset the dominant nxL squad and reached this stage. Vietnam is also not represented by FriendsForever as EpicSimple is coming out of that country. MimosaUSB is on the roster of that squad, so at least one former FriendsForever player will be present for the last stage of the SEA Qualifier.
In addition to those three teams Singapore is sending their standout team iMpunity and the Philippines will be featured through the unknown team JollyBeers. Notable in those teams is that iMpunity is having kiDDO` and Shuiyu in their roster, two players that failed to qualify with Orange eSports through the Malaysian region. Their appearance on the roster sheet of iMp does not mean that Orange eSports will disband though, as Shuiyu stated towards GosuGamers. He and kiDDO` are merely playing with the Singapore trademark team for this tournament, after it is all set and done both will return to Orange eSports and try to qualify for the Malaysian Singapore HoN Championships 2013.
The action of this SEA Qualifier will start May 11th at 5 AM CET with a Round Robin group stage on Day 1. Only one team will get eliminated on that first day of the competition as the other four competitors will have their chances intact heading into Day 2. There they will play a Double-Elimination Bracket for the tickets and accommodations to Jönköping,Sweden. In the DE bracket the first matches will be held in the Best-of-One format, the semis will be played in Best-of-Three mode and the Grand Final is scheduled to be a Best-of-Five bout with the Upper Bracket team up by one.
