HoN Tour Season 1 down to Stay Green and ex-Trademark
The highly anticipated Offline Grand Finals of the debut season of HoN Tour started out sloppy, but in the the quality of the matches made up for that in a splendid way. Now the competition is cut down to GSL Champion Stay Green and ex-Trademark eSports.
The show around the actual HoN Tour matches in the Hardwood Suite at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada might not have been the most outstanding thing, but at least the second Semifinal ended the first day of the competition on a high note. It all started with technical issues left and right and other flawed details, but after some delay Stay Green and Lions eSports finally clashed.
Unfortunately for the passionate HoN fans, the match turned into an outing of pure dominance by Stay Green, who manhandled the young Swedish team on all three matches. Not even the slightest of chance was allowed to Lions eSports and so the reigning and four-time Diamond Division Champion around swindlemelonzz marched right on through to the Grand Finals - once again without dropping a single map. The confidence of Stay Green is at an all-time high, considering that Kyle 'swindlemelonzz' Freedman even tweeted the possibility of "another swept Grand Finals event" before leaving for Las Vegas. This tease might become reality, as the team just plays out of this world currently.
Their opponent in the Grand Finals are their old rivals in ex-Trademark eSports. Those squads have met on several occasions in HoN Tour and in the latest Garena Star League event - with Stay Green coming out on top lately.
The path for xtdM into the Grand Final was a lot harder than the road of Stay Green as well, as the squad around Mynuts had to fight off their long time nemesis in compLexity Gaming. On five maps, that delivered stunning plays, brilliant coordination, but also some misplays, the team formerly known as Trademark eSports edged out the American organization to get the next rematch against Stay Green.
The HoN Tour festivities will continue at 6 PM CET with the Third Place Match between compLexity Gaming and Lions eSports. The winner of that match will not only get a spot at the podium, but also walk home with $8,000 USD - the loser only $4,000 USD. After that Best of Five is in the books all the attention will turn to the big finally, the epic conclusion of the opening season of HoN Tour. Once again swindlemelonzz and Mynuts will command their troops on the battlefield of Caldavar, once again a major Championship is on the line. The battle is set to start at midnight CET - all coverage brought to you by Honcast, GarenaSEA and GarenaThai.
