After spending the entire 2012 in Code A or outside GSL altogether, IM_Losira finally makes a return to the big stage as he qualifies for Code S Ro16.
Aggression entwined with a very swarmy zerg playstyle was what Losira brought to the table today, having Ryung choke on the meal. Axiom's terran, who reached top four last season had to endure an early exit after playing the zerg prince of IM twice, not taking a single set.
The discrepancy between both players' performances was staggering which, come to think of it, was what people expected, though the other way around. Ryung switched from bio to mech and back to bio in the course of the two series but the young zerg did not seem to care that much. Losira utilized an overwhelming combination of perfect creep spread and ultra/ling/bane/infestor-centric compositions to be extremely mobile, constantly pressuring Ryung and denying him bases, essentially pinning him to his own corner. The multitasking, awareness and sheer map presence additionally helped Losira by preventing any sneaky drop attempts from Ryung and rocketed the zerg among the best 16 of Code S.
Meanwhile, there was no stopping the soul train and Parting deservedly topped Group E, taking advantage of his opponent's screw-ups or by simply being hell of a lot better.
Parting's first test for this season's Code S lay in playing ByuN, a player who, like Losira, has been absent from the highest echelon for some time now, bar his top four finish in Season 3. A well timed marine/tank push was the end of the protoss in game one and PartinG had to reconsider his strategy or face dropping to the loser's match. He chose a proxy immortal rush as his opening in game two and almost failed there as well, only saved by a misplaced siege tanks of ByuN, allowing Parting to break up the ramp and tie the series. The world champion received another gift in the third game, too, as ByuN unsieged and moved out of his base for no apparent reason, only to be greeted by ravishing storms that sucked away a GG from the Prime terran.
With the first series secured, PartinG returned to his usual style of play and one perfect set of forcefields and one characteristically devastating immortal push later, Losira lay dead in protoss' feet, handing him a 2-0 victory and opening the gateway to the Ro16.
