As the last day of IEM Katowice starts spirits were high and the last two quarter finals started. After two wonderful series we have our winners and the stage is set for the Semi's.
Dream vs Daisy
Dream starts off the first game with a proxy barracks pushing out a Marauder and trying to build a bunker. Daisy pulls probes out as his Zealot and Stalker try to prevent the push. A back an forth ensues as Stalkers and Marauders get picked off but the bunker never manages to finish as the SCV is killed. Both players expand as Daisy retaliates with a double Stargate proxy. Chrono-boosting four Voidrays and charging forward Daisy starts with Dream's production buildings. The Terran sends his minimal forces directly to Daisy's undefended base and simply takes down everything. In a base-race the Voidrays simply can't match Terran Bio and so Dream takes game one.
In game two on Antiga Shipyard Dream opens normally and expands as Daisy once again decides to hide a Stargate and some Gateways. Dream scouts and scans - sees nothing and understands there's some hidden play. He immediately goes for several bunkers in his base to fortify his defenses. Daisy does not expand and goes in with 3 Voidrays and a strong Gateway army. Daisy charges up his Voidrays and tries to harass getting a lot of SCVs and supply blocking his opponent. As Daisy warps in more units straight into the Terran base he charges the bunkers and losses his Voidrays but manages to do enough damage to take the second match and even the score.
On Entombed Valley, Daisy hides a Pylon once again and this time goes for a Twilight Council followed by a Dark Shrine. Dream sees a late expansion but doesn't feel any special play and puts down an engineering bay a little late. The first DTs come up and Dream does have a scan and spots both of them. He immediately builds a turret on the front lines as he finishes up his Bio upgrades and heads out. Things look bleak for Daisy as Dream walks in and simply overwhelms the Protoss player to claim game three.
Dream decides to be the aggressor on game four as he pulls up a forward bunker to Daisy's natural and gets two marines in it. Daisy pulls probes but simply can not overcome the bunker. Dream goes for a three hellion drop while the bunker is still standing and manages to take out a ton of workers. Daisy finally takes out the bunker with Stalkers and heads out to Dream's base to try and take the game. Dream holds on by repairing his base bunkers while dropping more hellions inside the Protoss base. Daisy sees he can not win and calls the GG. Dream is the third Semi-Finalist with a 3-1 score.
PartinG vs YoDa
As the game on Cloud Kingdom begins YoDa starts a wall off and hides one barracks to the right of the map. He moves out with several Marines and SCVs as PartinG puts up a fight with a several Stalkers. YoDa sees he can't do much and immediately goes for two Command Centers. PartinG puts up an early Robo and starts churning out Colossi as he goes in to push with two of them. YoDa can not defend versus PartinG's force-fields and losses a huge amount of workers. PartinG's onslaught is unstoppable as he takes game one.
On Metropolis PartinG expands early as YoDa goes for in-base cloak banshees. The first banshee gets to PartinG's base as YoDa goes for two command centers at a time. PartinG's large gateway army simply walks into YoDa's base and takes out the Starport and a huge amount of workers. With YoDa's supply diving to single digits, he GGs out and PartinG is ahead by two games.
The first game that looks rather normal happens on Daybreak as both players take their natural and seem pretty even. PartinG wants to push through with two Immortals and lots of Sentries but YoDa is ready with three bunkers and several SCVs. PartinG goes for it anyways with a few Zealots as a meat shield and manages to take out one bunker as YoDa builds a fourth. Forcefields help break up the bunkers as PartinG slowly pushes forward. YoDa manages to hold as PartinG backs off building up two forge and a Robo bay. As the game progresses YoDa puts out a strong bio army complemented by Vikings and in a mid engagement manages to pick off PartinG's three Colossi. YoDa prevents PartinG's third base from happening as he takes his third and gains an economic lead. EMPs vs Storm engagements happen time and again as PartinG comes out on top and takes the last Quarter Finals 3-0.
