A potential royal-roader and a seasoned champion came out victorious in the first quarter final day of GSL and will play each other next Thursday.
Paired with the innovative protoss of team Liquid HerO - someone who had just beaten Squirtle 2-0 in the group stage - it was expected that Rain would break at least some sweat in the Ro8, playing a back-and-forth match to remember.
And remembered it will be but for the absolute opposite as Rain came in for a stomping 3-0 scoreline to blaze HerO off of the competition. Displaying unbreakable defense against both a DT opening and a 4-gate with an unscouted proxy pylon in his base and combining that with exemplary read of late game engagements, SKT's Rain made it to another premier semi-final counting OSL.
KeSPA's protoss powerhouse is now to go against Mvp of IM on October 11th. The terran champion played TSL's Symbol, winning the opening game with a solid mech play but being pushed back into a tie after a baneling cheese by the zerg caught him unprepared. A somewhat weird third game put Mvp back in the lead as Symbol's quick brood lords garnished with a large infestor donation did not end up being too good for him. Ohana welcomed the final game and one very perfect Mvp, shutting down every play of Symbol while rapidly expanding to have seven CCs by the 20th minute and a constant stream of bio and tanks that swept away Symbol's entire army of ultras.
