As DreamHon is marketed as the World Cup in Heroes of Newerth, the international race for the spots in the tournament is on. After DreamHon Online Summer Champion coL is already qualified, the CIS region has found their representative today - Cats Gaming.

The CIS region is one of the newer regions in Heroes of Newerth, yet they are one of the better known regions through long-time teams like Cats Gaming and GAru. Both these teams are widely known in the international scene as GAru represented the CIS region at the DreamHon Summer already and both teams reached a place in the DreamHon Summer Championship.

So after Cats wpm the Grand Final of their qualification tournament against rival GAru with 3-1, they now claim a place in the DreamHon Winter event. They have to prove a lot of people wrong, as the CIS region is not considered as high level with Russian teams falling short numerous times in international competition. The most recent examples are GAru in the DreamHon Summer festivities, where they finished last and the DreamHon OSC where Cats and GAru finished 7th and 8th in their Group C with a combined record of 1-13.

All that aside, the CIS qualifier still was a tremendous financial success for Cats as they not only take home the spot for DreamHack Winter 2012, but also the Grand Price of $10,000 USD. GAru has to sit in front of the computer to experience the action of DreamHack as they only get $1,000 USD without any spot at the popular Swedish LAN event. Finishing of the podium is the Kazakh team NEXT.kz, who lost the Consolation Final against Cats.
