LGD is perhaps one of the best teams in the Dota scene right now. With WCG, G-1 League and several major tournaments going around, Sgamer decided to visit the main core member, their captain, LGD.xiao8. LGD recently lost against iG, DK in WCG and the G-1 League. Xiao8 speaks about the team's situation, about LGD.int, DK and iG's strength.

LGD.cn is best known for its run in TI2,having not lost single a game up until the winner bracket grand-finals against Na`vi. With that being said, the team has somewhat been under-performing post-TI2. Sgamer sits down with its captain, xiao8, in order to talk about the recent formation of LGD.int, its recent performance etc.

Here is a translation of the original interview:

Many thanks to LGD.xiao8 for accepting Sgamer.com's request for an interview. Recently, there have been rumors about your recent move of location from TianJing to KangZhou. The rumors were saying that you guys moved because you changed sponsors, is that true?

No, we did not change sponsors. We moved because we felt that the internet connection on the South is much better. Besides that, we needed to form our International team, so it's much better to live together to take care of us.

Team LGD were the favorites when entering the competition, but recently LGD has been losing a lot of important championship titles, would this lead to roster changes?

I don't think that will happen. I believe the reason we've been losing recently is because our roles are messed up. This is because after finishing playing in the ACE tournament, DD says he wants to play on the number 3 role (Editor's note: mainly the jungler or suicide lanes). After a while, he eventually returned to the support role. Then the recent timing of the competitions was really tight so we could not adapt to the new roles leading to a massive confusion therefore costing us the games.

Regarding the role changes, if a member suggests changing the roles, does everyone agree? Is it because people playing the same roles for a long time get bored that they want to try to switch?

As long as someone suggests a switch of roles, the other teammates will try to accommodate/adapt him/her. This is because I believe if one does not want to play a certain role, they will not perform well.

Because the competition changed Author's note: Competitions moving towards Dota 2, LGD no longer plays Dota 1 right? So when you guys have free time, do you still play some in-house Dota?

Once in a while I would player alone or alongside a few people to play with me.

Regarding your new team Author's note: LGD.int , how do you guys communicate?

English!

Why do you sound like you're so proud…. Among LGD.cn, who has the best English?

Originally, Yao's english was the best, but our club has started teaching us to speak English, I think, my English will be the best in future!

How do both of your teams usually train?

When everybody has arrived, we start to train. Then we keep shouting and play. The only problem is, we usually do not know what they are saying. Usually we bet on coca-cola, play a best of 3, loser would buy 2 boxes of coca-cola.

Is your win rate still at 100%?

Nope, they're amazing players, while training, we would sometimes win sometimes lose.

After TI2, IceFrog has introduced a major new version. Do you think that within months, this new version will affect the games meta?

I feel that this version's fast metagame is temporarily, because we cannot find a suitable way of playing this version.

How do you feel about Ban/Pick's changes?

I don't feel there is much difference, the main thing is team's ability and potential.

When training with LGD.int, did you guys receive inspiration and motivation? Seems like the local Chinese team's mentality has stayed the same.

There's a bit, but now the main thing is, they train much more to switch to follow a Chinese's team mentality and play style.

What do you feel about the Chinese and Western's team's strengths and weaknesses among one another?

Strength is we are more dedicated and treat competitions much more seriously; For inferiority, I don't know, maybe our attitude and mentality aren't as great as theirs, I feel that they enjoy the game more.

How do you feel about the recent lineup changes of DK?

I think, overall their synergy have been a lot stronger, therefore being a stronger DK.

Why do you think so? A lot of people have been questioning 357 and Dai's strength

Dai and 357 are strong 4(Support) and 5 (Hard supports), regardless of strategy, knowledge about the game or experiences, they have one of the best.

Currently, iG is unquestionably the strongest local Chinese team, they are also your best opponent, have you guys found their weakness?

No. They don't have a very strong or obvious weak point. Only from Ban/Pick phase or when they make mistakes that we can beat them.

Have you guys prepare yourself for the upcoming G-League competition and G-1 League?

We are currently in preparation, our status really depends on after competing then only I would know.

As the Dota Map version is still new, China has still retain a large amount of Dota 1 players, but majority of the competitions have shifted towards Dota, therefore, dota has no more competitions but have people playing, where Dota 2 have competitions but nobody playing it, would this affect the overall Dota 2 development?

Whether it would impact or not, I'm not sure, but I feel wait until Dota 2 becomes officially released then people would slowly convert over.

Any last words to end our interview?

Shout out and a very big thanks to our sponsors, Razer, taobao, Old dry grandpa chinese sauce(Direct translation) and our fans who have been there to support us. Thank you!
