With today's Code S matches, the KeSPA contingent looked forward to making its Season 5 debut, sending in RorO amidst Hack, Happy and Symbol.
For someone who's made it to two Code S quarter finals in a row, it was not surprising that Symbol did not hold back today and with two terrans in his group and ZvT as his statistically strongest match-up, the stars were certainly aligned in Symbol's favor.
Indeed, the TSL zerg who was praised as the new Leenock two seasons ago did not disappoint and came along with the solid, well-rounded, late-game loving style that endured both RorO's roach harassments and Hack's mech. Flawless in his presence, Symbol was awarded a 4-0 exit from the Ro32, looking forward to having another great Code S run.
While Symbol was what standard is all about, the second qualifying player Hack proved to be much more an entertainer than a dominator. His mech into air terran style yielded both good results (game two against RorO) or failed miserably due to poor execution (game one against Happy) but never was it boring to watch. In fact, the very last game of the day versus KHAN's zerg would end up being the absolute highlight of the day, the two players entwined in a unstopping war of attrition, spellcaster engagements, battlecruisers and nukes opposing infestor harassments and nydus plays. A war that went on for fifty minutes before seeing the GG from RorO and one that wrapped up what could've very well been quite a dull playday.
What does that all mean for the remaining two players, however? For Happy, this is the fourth Code S to Code A drop this year and should he fail to survive the onslaught there, the once GSL semi-finalist might begin 2013 in the lower echelons of the tournament. At the same time, RorO's fall sets the countdown of KeSPA presence in Code S Season 5. Right now, it clearly says "just six more to go".
