Liquid's Young Suh "Taeja" Yun celebrates his MLG Summer Championship after defeating SlayerS_Alicia with 4-2 in the grand final. In addition to his first ever champion title, Taeja is additionally awarded $10,000 of prize money.
Channeling the momentum from his dominating victory against first in the WB final, Taeja took Alicia by force, dealing him yet another silver medal.
Thanks to his massive viking flock, Taeja took the first map after winning a major mid-game battle against Alicia's colossus ball but the series was quickly brought to a tie at the hands of chargelots and archons. Switching to his ever-powerful signature drop style, Taeja won the next two games on Entombed Valley and Metropolis, even managing to snipe two nexuses at the same time in the latter. Just one game away from elimination, Alicia tried his best and did bring back the intrigue for a short while with an 8-gate on Daybreak but another big drop play from Taeja on Antiga put the full stop to this series.
This is Taeja's first gold in his career, coming after a very strong start of season 2012 that saw two GSL top eight finishes in a row. For Alicia, on the other hand, this is the third second place in a row after losing to DRG in MLG Spring Championship and to Stephano in NASL 3.
