DreamHack's Head of Esports talks Dota 2, the MOBA genre and expectations
GosuGamers checks the pulse on Tomas "gREYKARN" Hermansson, the DreamHack Head of Esports. We ask how the preparations are going, how they attempt to leverage from last year's DreamHack event.
- "In Dota 2 we did a first test tournament last winter and we believe this summer will be the next step in evolution for this game. We have increased from 8 to a total of 16 teams, learned a lot and improved the tournament layout," says Hermansson when we ask him about the changes since last winter.
He also reveals that the media production value for the Dota 2 Corsair Vengeance Cup has increased immensely.
- "We're bringing in Toby Dawson again, but this time he will have his own Dota 2 stage where a few hundred fans can watch the whole tournament live. It will have a big-screen projection and a similar production you have seen from the SC2 streams earlier. The grand final will be played on prime time Monday evening in DreamArena Extreme, just before the StarCraft 2 final so expect a lot of hype and some huge atmoshpere in the arena."
