Yet another new poker tour is set to hit the tournament circuit, this time it is Card Player magazine stepping into the fray with its announcement of the Native American Casino Poker Tour (NACPT.)

With over 300 Native American-operated casinos around the United States, the NACPT should be able to provide a great deal of geographic diversity for its tournaments. Though some might typically think of Native American casinos as being relatively small compared to the giants of Las Vegas, some of the country’s largest casinos are actually run by Native Americans, such as Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

The NACPT’s first stop will be held from December 1-10 at Durant, Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino and resort. The tournament will have a modestly priced $1,000 main event that is sure to appeal to the area’s more local players. The winner of this event will find themselves on the cover of Card Player magazine.

“Our vision is to combine the efforts of Native American poker rooms with Card Player’s massive poker audience, for a nationwide tour,” said Jeff Shulman, president of Card Player. “With the help of Card Player’s poker and media expertise, the Native American Casino Poker Tour will foster closer relationships between the casinos and their players.”

With events with buy-ins of just one hundred dollars, as well the fact that many of the casinos allow 18 year olds to play, the NACPT is likely to be a big local hit. Check back to GosuGamers for more updates.
