Scrimmage Report

The night might have been scheduled as short but QXC and TLO would not allow that to happen, playing an hour long TvT Bo3. TLO got the early lead with a thor/hellion timing attack but was tied up on Temple as he could not break QXC's central line of occupation. Finally, the big mistake of landing vikings into thor fire cost TLO the third game and the series.

Moman and TT1 played a very standard PvZ and the Canadian walked out with a 2-1 victory. After beating TT1's double void ray play on Belshir Beach, Moman tried his best to win the series but failed to stop TT1's fast third on Temple and later committed the SC2 version of a explicitly violent suicide, going mass hydras against a strong colossus ball.

It took even less for Hasu to defeat Tyler. Liquid's protoss could make neither his 3-gate blink nor the fast DT tech work and ended up losing the series 0-2.

Nothing to Say Here, Move Along

Rarely do I lack words to spare for a game night but this week was really nothing so special. The PvPs that impress me (and I count myself among the not-picky) are about 2% of all and Tyler vs Hasu was not one of those. Moman and TT1 also did not play the best PvZ the world has ever seen, although had it not been for mistakes like stepping too far on creep or going mass hydras vs colossi it could've been a series worth writing or talking about.

So all in all it comes to a point where QXC vs TLO is the match to go to if you are starving for some quality W3D5 action, although having in mind the average of trizillion TvTs played each month, this should not be considered any special. Nevertheless, QXC can be titled "Mentor of the Evening" because of the textbook way he approached and won set 2 on Shattered Temple. It was a TvT 101 lesson at its finest with the American capturing and defending a position in the centre, constricting any movement of larger armies his opponent might command. At the same time, knowing that the only way enemy units might sneak behind his lines was through the air, QXC paid special attention to the fringes of his base, crushing the tank drop of TLO with almost a wizardly precision.

By looking at QXC's play one can also see the importance of army compositions and catch the timings for when it is wise to tech switch and the exact process of how to it. His large viking count and mixed-in thors gave him the edge in the early game, allowing him to stay safe until he had enough resources to start production of BCs. Which, as we know, counter mass thor perfectly well.

From the looks of it, the top places in the division are freakishly close and as stable as a nuclear reactor in an abandoned Georgian military base. Although placed as first, qxc has equal points with Dimaga and is just one ahead of Puma when both of them are a game behind. Hasu and TT1 are also incredibly close to the leader so the next week will be one of the most important for the group thus far.

TLO, Moman and Tyler, unfortunately, are still performing bad and are now so deep down the ranks that there is little hope for coming back into the light. All three still have to play a division favourite in the coming weeks so the grass in their backyard is growing darker by the minute.

Barely Clairvoyant: Week 4 on October 9th

Division V Week 4 Matches
qxcVS Dimaga
HasuObsVS TT1
TylerVS Puma
TLOVS Moman

QXC vs Dimaga is the big clash for the next week. As mentioned above, the terran's first place is not at all unmovable and when you have one of the best zergs in the world in front of you, you better shape up and do your best. This is a match that victory is not all that counts: it will be extremely important what the score is since the difference in points is so small and since Puma will almost certainly own Tyler with the ease I eat cold pizza.

Come Week 4, it will be life or death for everyone!
