MLG: Providence open bracket Top 8 is halfway through
The first four players to battle out for a seed in the championship bracket have just been determined. Before Saturday is through, NesTea will face TLO and State will go against Leenock.
After having a relatively easy toll through the bracket and defeating Spanishiwa in the semi final, TLO (playing as Zerg in this tournament) has advanced to the top 8 of the open tournament. His challenger, however, will be none other than IM's top zerg NesTea. The Korean have ploughed through some of the best known foreign zergs - Vibe, Catz and Machine - and is looking forward to yet another mirror. Having lost yesterday's MLG Global Invitational, this is a do-or-die match for NesTea who is attending his first ever MLG tournament.
The second open bracket final is another Korea vs the West match as American protoss State is facing the young FXO zerg Leenock. State made it to here by defeating InControl 2-1 in the semi final but Leenock's part of the bracket has been marginally tougher. Leenock made it through Oz, Drewbie and Gatored and will get his chance to earn a seed in the championship bracket.
With the competition so fierce, many players that have received high praise are now out of MLG Providence, the most notable ones being:
Drewbie (0-2 vs Leenock @ Ro16)
Oz (0-2 vs Leenock @ Ro8)
Violet (1-2 vs Ganzi @ Ro16)
Ganzi (0-2 vs Gatored @ Ro8)
Machine (0-2 vs NesTea @ Semi Final)
Catz (0-2 vs NesTea @ Ro8)
Vibe (0-2 vs NesTea @ Ro16)
MarineKing (1-2 vs sC @ Ro16)
Puzzle (1-2 vs Hero @ Ro16)
Currently on stream are two more semi final matches: sC vs Losira and HerO vs Keen.
