Code S July Group F - NaDa, Keen, HongUn, Supernova
Although not as deadly as other, group F was just as interesting as the absolute legend Nada, the GSL veterans Supernova and HongUn and the young terran Keen made up a cute company.
Nada vs Keen @ Tal'Darim Altar
Nada went for a very surprising mass reaper build - a not very common technique in TvT but one that worked perfectly fine in this very match. Keen threw down a fast CC but although he scouted the fast double gas by Nada he was a bit too late in putting down the necessary defences. Nada's reapers, later reinforced by a hellion and a banshee, took put more than 50 supply worth in units. A gg from Keen and a well played game by Nada indeed.
A conga line of dead-to-be SCVs
Supernova vs HongUn @ Terminus
HongUn pulled a blitz victory, going for a 4-gate to counter Supernova's greedy 1-rax CC. A spot-on forcefield led to the destruction of one of the bunkers and although Supernova managed to get some tanks out, HongUn's force was just too large.
4-Gate pressure: old but gold
Nada vs HongUn @ Xel'Naga Fortress
Nada opened with concussive shell rine/marauder push and forced a cancel on Hong's nexus but the sight of the high sentry count was a clue for the terran that he would not be able to advance further and so he fell back and took his natural. HongUn started the mass production of Immortals to counter Nada's marauders but the Genius Terran smartly mixed in some ghosts and after some perfectly placed EMPs, the protoss army became dust.
EMPs are putting immortals' name to the test
Keen vs Supernova @ Crevasse
Keen tried to do a small marine pressure but quickly turned around seeing the tight wall, just in time to defend Supernova's hellion drop. As Supernova continued building up his mech army, Keen stuck to the standard bio/tank composition and used his quicker tempo to establish a contain at the northern side of the center high-ground.
However, Supernova managed to find cracks in the contain and flew two CCs south, establishing a fourth and a fifth base - an essential move in order to support his expensive mech army. Keen tried to battle the ever-increasing tank numbers by using nukes but Supernova's banshees were ever watchful, sniping any ghost that posed a threat. Due to immaculate macro, Supernova soon got maxed and as Keen's supply withered under tank fire that game was over.
Keen desperately needed this nuke to land but Supernova was a bit too quick
Supernova vs HongUn @ Metalopolis
HongUn opened with quick Phoenixes that completely thwarted Supernova's banshee build. He then proceeded to build up his ground army, forgetting however the most important part of every protoss ball - the anti air. Supernova's viking count would have been enough to just fly and shoot down the colossi of HongUn but for some reason the terran chose to be passive and that cost him the game. As he pushed forward to HongUn's natural, the protoss army engaged with a massive chargelot/colossus numbers and, although there was still not enough anti-air, it pulled off a crushing victory, a surprisingly shocking outcome.
HongUn is winning this battle, despite the near full absence of anti-air
