Kevin "qxc" Riley, Felipe "KiLLeR" Zuñiga and Nick "Pokebunny" Taber became the three first players to qualify via the North American qualifiers for the Intel Extreme Masters stop in New York.

ESL's flagship series Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge is only a month away from packing up at New York ComicCon. Even so, the first out of three US qualifiers finished as late as yesterday.

56 brave souls from USA, Canada and Chile entered the single elimination stage in which the FXOpen Terran qxc ended up as victor after a close 3-2 win over the Dignitas Zerg KiLLeR.

It's Gosu's youngster, Pokebunny, grabbed third place after a 2.1 win over Canadian Attero to grab the third spot at the Big Apple event.

The remaining two qualifiers for North America is dated to September 14 and 17.

While North America has five more spots to fill, the European protagonists have already been decided. Through qualifiers it was determined that elfittaja, MaNa, SjoW and Strelok will travel to New York on October 13 to battle for the hefty $21,000 USD prize pool.

The Asian region has been granted four spots at the event. They are likely to be filled up through invitations as no Asian qualifier has yet been announced.
