Step back one year and Freddy Deeb defeated Sorel Mizzi for the 2010 WPT Grand Prix de Paris High Roller event and €290,000 first place prize. Fast forward one year and remarkably the same two players made it to heads-up play once again in Paris. This time Sorel Mizzi came in with the chip lead and never relinquished it in grabbing the title and €234,495.

On the final hand, Deeb put his money in with top pair, top kicker with A♠ J♦ but was unfortunate to be way behind Mizzi’s pocket aces on a board of J♠ 5♣ 6♦. There was no further help for Deeb to gain the repeat victory.

Mizzi furthered his online and live reputation where he has over $4 million in career earnings. Mizzi is a sponsored pro for Titan Poker.

There were 36 entrants in the €15,000 buy-in 2011 WPT Paris High Roller event at the Aviation Club de France. Other notables playing in the event included Ludovic Lacay, Roberto Romanello, Jérôme Zerbib, Basil Yaiche and Jean Noel Thorel.
