Nevo in their match against Na'Vi at Gamescom

Gamescom 2011 saw Angel and his team Nevo playing some of the toughest games of their lives. Sharing with us his thoughts and experience sthroughout the event, Angel sits down for a special interview conducted and translated into English by Desolator.

With "The International" behind us, can you recollect and share with us some of the more memorable moments during your trip?
-"Even though we got eliminated from the tournament itself quite early, the most memorable moments would still have been with my team. We had a really great time together despite our bad results."

Did NaVi's victory end China's domination over Europe or is it just because the Asians lacked preparation for the tournament?
-"Na'Vi showed us all some good DotA at Gamescom, but I'm fairly sure that China/Asia will strike back! I guess we will see the fights again in upcoming events such as ESWC/WDC/SMM. May the best team win."

Are you upset that you failed to enter the top-8? What was the main reason for your failure to proceed past round 1?
-"Of course we are very upset about not even getting into top-8. I guess the lack of LAN experience was a big factor in our performance. Two of our players have never been at a LAN tournament before, which is a clear disadvantage. But it's a team-game, so I guess the team itself failed."

What are your favorite heroes in Dota 2 and why?
-"Hmm, I guess I'll have to go with my same favorites in DotA (Potm, Shaker, Storm) and once QOP is be added to Dota 2, we can add her to my list.
The reason I like them this much is because they are fun to play *smiles*"

After the event, did you continue playing Dota 2 or did you start training for DotA? With WDC approaching, will your team be ready for the event?
-"The last months of 2011 will still be DotA, so I will go back and train harder than ever to be able to reach some of my goals. I do hope we will be able to attend all the 3 big upcoming LAN events, but I guess only time can tell whether we will be there or not."

As far as I know, after your last departure from MYM, you played League of Legends for a few months. What aspects of LoL, in your opinion, surpasses Dota 2, and vice versa? Why did you decide to leave LoL and return to the professional DotA?
-"Yeah, I tried out League Of Legends for a short period of time together with miGGel. The game is not ready to be played on a competative level yet - and it is a bit more noob-friendly/public based game. Therefore we of course came back to Dota! I don't think there will be any game able to compete with the awesomeness of Dota 2 - it's simply just the best!"

Recently, the whole of Europe was shocked to hear that MYM, one of the oldest and most popular teams, was disbanding for reasons unknown. Did you talk with the guys? Is it possible that someone from the team will strengthen the roster of Nevo?
-"We haven't talked about it, but if both parties would agree on doing so for the last few months of 2011, I'm sure it would be possible - however we chose to pick up some other players."

Tell us about the new roster. Who will perform which roles in the team and so on?
-"Well, the great thing about this team now, is that everybody can play basically anything. The only role that has been taken for sure is support, which will be played by the biggest troll I have ever met - Ryze! All the other roles will be switched around from game to game."

Why did you choose Calculus and Link? Have you played together with them previously?
-"They both seem like stable and good players, and really nice guys in real life - which is important if you want to make it all the way to the top! I have only had the pleasure of playing with Calculus before in Faxe Kondi, but unfortunately it only lasted for one month. So I guess it's a new challenge we have in front of us."

I heard that Synderen is going to leave the team. Is this true? Why did he decide to do so?
-"Yeah it's true, Synderen aka "Harry Potter" will be the only man from our current roster leaving the team. It's been a mutual decision made by both parties, so no hard feelings between us at all. I can only wish him the best of luck in the future!"

Ryze: -"syndereN is a unique player and a great captain. His knowledge and understanding of the game is also on a very high level. In Nevo he was left to play support, whereas his main strength - if you ask me - lies in initiating strength carries such as Slardar or even his Kunkka from his days at Online-Kingdom? I am definitely looking forward to seeing syndereN's casts now and it would be cool if he teamed up with Tobi. Held og lykke, troels! *smiles*"

Any shootots?
-"Shoutout to all the guys out there who still believe in us. A new chapter is about to start - may this be the best one we've ever had!"
