Will "The Thrill" Failla broke through Wednesday morning for his long awaited big victory by taking down the World Poker Tour's Season X Legends of Poker main event for $785,000. All the more remarkable was he turned down insight from friends watching the 30 minutes delayed live stream of the event.“I didn’t get nothing from anyone,” Failla commented “My boys were trying to give me information on breaks and I said, ‘Just leave me alone right now. I just want to play the game. I don’t care about any anything.”Failla started the final table as the chip leader, but had to face adversity and come back from a short stack. His first good fortune was a double against Ken Aldridge. He then won two hands A,5 and A,J when he was against A,9 and A,Q. In heads-up play Ken Aldridge, a WSOP Bracelet winner, took the lead briefly, but in the end Failla was just too much when Aldridge pushed in short stacked with 4,6 to run into Failla's J,6.

Failla now has his marquee victory to go with his nearly $3 million in career live tournament earnings. "Second happiest day of my life" (after the birth of his son)The first event of the new WPT season proved a success with 757 entrants paying the new lower $3,500 buy-in with re-entry main event.
