Puma with another 3-0 for Korea, rematch vs MC incoming
EG'Puma ploughed his way through to the IEM Cologne grand final by defeating Socke with a quick 3-0. The terran is aiming at a third consecutive gold medal at international events but will have to play a rematch against MC first.
A simple early-game bio aggression got the 1-0 lead for Puma as stim marines destroyed the natural expansion of Socke in seconds. Socke had to GG and take a more offensive approach on Terminus. He attacked the third of Puma and threw down some really good forcefields but the viking count was constantly increasing and Puma pushed the colossus ball back. The Korean retook his third and pushed in for a counter-attack and it was then that Socke realized there is no way to turn the tables - the anti-air for Puma was overwhelming and even though the exceptional force-fields kept coming, Socke could not get out of the uncomfortable position he was in. 2-0 for Puma.
The final set began with Puma floating a hidden factory straight into Socke's base. Two hellions eventually popped out to disturb the mining process and kill some probes. Although quickly denied, the small gap in economy and supply kept growing, not without the help of some drop play and multi-pronged aggression. By the end of the game, Puma already had enough forces to launch a direct attack and force out a third and final GG.
Thus, a month after the NASL, Puma and MC will once again meet at a grand final podium. The God Protoss is looking for a revenge as he lost the previous series 3:4. Furthermore, Puma predicted a full five-map finals and a 3:2 score in his favor so MC has a lot to prove.
You will have to tune in tomorrow to see who will take home the gold medal and the $6,500. The time is 17:30 CET, set your alarms!
