Jason Mercier and Erik Seidel Pass ElkY in GPI To Be #1
Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier's run as the number one tournament poker player in the world, according to the Global Poker Index (GPI), has ended as Jason Mercier assumed the number one spot. Mercier won his second World Series of Poker bracelet this summer and recently took third place in the first Epic Poker League $20,000 Main Event for roughly $360k.
Eric Seidel took second in the Epic Poker League event for over $600k, also pushing past Grospellier into second on the GPI. Seidel has had a magical year where he has won over $6 million from tournament play.
The dynamics of the Global Poker Index shift regularly as some results are included while others are omitted for not meeting certain limits. The changes in ranking reflect some scores from the past dropping off, as more recent scores get included.
