Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom wins another SuperStar Showdown
Viktor "Isildur1" Blom won another SuperStar Showdown Sunday defeating online qualifier "MASTERMIXUS" over 2,500 hands of $5/$10 NLHE. Blom won by a $1,279 margin over the conservative playing qualifier, bringing his total winnings over the 9 matches to $351,486.
"MASTERMIXUS" had qualified for SuperStar through a series of challenges and thus was awarded $15,000 to take on Blom in the SuperStar Showdown.
The Polish player, "MASTERMIXUS," got off to a quick lead but Blom's constant aggression turned the tables in the latter portions of the match. Near the end, it seemed "MASTERMIXUS" preferred to avoid all-in confrontations instead looking to keep as much of his starting bankroll as possible. In doing so, "MASTERMIXUS" gets to keep the remaining $13,721 of his bankroll as his reward in the challenge.
Blom just defeated Palmer and Daniel Negreanu before that. He beat the online qualifier DodgyFish72 by the slimmest possible margin ($10), after all the previous matches had much larger margins of victory or loss. Blom defeated Eugene Katchalov, Daniel "jungleman12" Cates, and Tony G while losing his first match to Isaac "philivey2694" Haxton.
Another online qualifier is scheduled to take on Isildur1 this following Sunday. The players will play 2,500 No Limit Hold’em hands at $5/$10 with a starting bankroll of $15,000 with the qualifier keeping all funds in his match bankroll when play ends. It will be interesting to see if the SuperStar Showdown can continue with the removal of U.S. high stakes opponents from consideration.
