Seidel sits in third as final 9 of WSOP-C Hollywood plays out
The biggest tournament winner in 2011, Eric Seidel, is threatening again at the WSOP-Circuit Hollywood Poker Open main event in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. With nine players left, Seidel sits in third place.
The chip leader is relative unknown Steve Barshak, but the final nine has quite a few prominent players that should make for an exciting finale.
The final nine include recent World Series of Poker Circuit winner Ali Eslami, 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure High Roller champ William Reynolds, veteran pro Allen Kessler and 2010 CardPlayer Player of the Year Tom Marchese.
The greatest focus will clearly be on poker Hall of Famer Seidel who moved into the top spot on poker's all-time leading money winner's list this year with $14.6 million in lifetime earnings after a blazing start to 2011.
Seidel has been on a tear in 2011, having already won $4.3 million this year with two final table appearances at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, the $100K High Rollers at the Aussie Millions, and the $5k Heads Up at the LAPC, plus wins in the Aussie Millions $250K Super High Roller, the $25k High Roller at the LAPC and the NBC National Heads-Up Championship.
They will play down to a TV final table of six Tuesday and crown a winner Wednesday. First place is worth $273,664.
The $10k buy-in main event began Saturday with 97 players, down significantly from last year's 143 players.
The final 9 chip stacks:
1. Steve Barshak - 601,000

3. Erik Seidel - 526,000
4. Mike Scarborough - 467,000
