Rui "PepperoniF" Cao became the latest victim of Viktor "Isildur1" Blom in the ongoing PokerStars Superstar Showdown. While high stakes action has been reduced since Black Friday and the onset of the World Series of Poker, the Superstar Showdown resumed after a six week break and Blom showed no signs of rust.

Blom got off to a fast start by winning a $20k and $40k pot right off the bat and his momentum was never really dented.

The match was set up to play the first 1,250 hands ofHold'em and the second 1,250 hands of PLO.

The match was nearly over after 1,000 hands, but then the French based Cao put on a surge before they switched to PLO. That switch harkened in the end quickly.

Blom too the last of Cao's $150k bankroll for the challenge within the first 30 minutes of PLO play when he rivered a set of nines.

Blom effectively moves to 9-1 in the challenges, with his only full heads-up match his first to Isaac Haxton. He has defeated Daniel Negreanu, Scott Palmer, Tony G, Eugene Katchalov and Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates along with a couple qualifiers.

Blom was able to reduce 2011 to date losses on PokerStars of $474k by $150k.

Maybe Blom should stick to playing challenges where he has a cumulative profit of over $500k in 10 matches?
