Six weeks since the last opponent and several months since the last high profile opponent, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom will resume his Superstar Showdown challenge against hot PLO player Rui "PepperoniF" Cao. The challenge had gained significant momentum early in 2011 with visible opponents like Isaac Haxton, Daniel Negreanu, Scott Palmer, Tony G, Eugene Katchalov and Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates, but after qualifiers were substituted and lesser opponents suggested, the challenge waned.

According to Pokerstars, Cao has been asking for a "Superstar Showdown" match with "Isildur1" since last December. Cao will finally get his opportunity this Sunday, starting at 12 pm ET and playing as "PepperoniF."

The match will split with two tables of $50/$100 No Limit Hold'em and two $50/$100 Pot Limit Omaha tables. The winner will be the player who is ahead after 625 hands have been played at each of the four tables (for a total of 2,500 hands).

The French based Chinese player Cao has had a strong 2011, one of the true action players online, having won $1.4 million on PokerStars and another $240k on Full tilt poker. While Blom is down $474k on Pokerstars since the start of 2011.

Blom has traditionally done quite well in the Showdowns and gained momentum from his victories that he often takes to the cash game tables afterwards. Hi is is currently 7-2 after a total of 9 matches. Blom has managed to post a cumulative profit of over $350,000 over the course of the nine matches. His two losses have come in his very first Showdown against Isaac Haxton and against Daniel Negreanu in the second half of their two part match.
