The season ending World Poker Tour $25k buy-in Championship event began over the weekend at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event eventually drew 220 players by the deadline on Sunday with very deep stack play that allowed many to buy in late.

The 220 entrants created a prize pool of $5,309,500 with the winner to receive $1,618,344.

There was much speculation on who would attend the championship in light of the recent fury over delayed funds returns from Full Tilt Poker. Players like Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, and Chris Ferguson didn't play in the event.

Notable players with high visibility like Doyle Brunson, Eric Seidel and Daniel Negreanu did play and the overall turnout was considered a success.

Entering Day 3 are 118 players from the original 220 players. Leading the field is Bellagio fixture Abe Mosseri, who stacked 685,000 in the first two days of play. Mosseri's one WPT final table was at the Bellagio in 2003 when he finished fourth in the Five Diamond Classic for $174,000.

Mosseri also won a WSOP bracelet in 2009 when he took down the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw event.

Some other big names in the Top 20 include Scott Seiver (5th place), Erik Seidel (11th place), Steve Gross (12th place), Joseph Cheong (15th place), Galen Hall (16th place), and Jake Cody (20th place).

This year's WPT Championship is a seven-day event with the final table taking place May 20 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
