As poker players around the world are dealing with the ramifications of the Black Friday indictments, new home forfeitures and raids were taking place on the three companies indicted. Federal prosecutors were in the process of seizing five homes on Thursday connected to recently indicted individuals. Friday, officials from the Costa Rican Office of Internal Justice raided the support offices for both PokerStars and UB/AP.
According to a supplemental forfeiture filed on Thursday in Manhattan’s federal court, the government is moving to seize a 7,200 square-foot estate in a Las Vegas gated community that was purchased by former Playboy Playmate Destiny Davis last year for $1.5 million, according to Clark County Assessor records. Davis recently married Chad Elie, the day after he was arrested and charged with conspiring to commit bank fraud by processing payments for online poker firms.
Four other homes in Glendora, California, owned or connected to Ray Bitar the Full Tilt Poker founder, were also being pursued. These seizures are part of the DoJ's efforts to enforce the civil litigation aspects of their federal prosecution.
On Friday in Costa Rica, employees of PokerStars and UB/AP support centers in San Jose were sent home prematurely as OIJ officials raided the offices to investigate claims of unpaid bills and compensation.
