Rob 'veeRob' Perelman Wins Heartland Poker Tour Season Opener
Season 7 of the Heartland Poker Tour opened with a bang at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas. There were 533 players in the main event with poker journalist Rov 'veeRob' Perelman winning the event for $158,755.
Perelman is 32-year-old poker media consultant who invested only $250, having won a satellite to enter the main event.
The Heartland Poker Tour has historically traveled the midwest, televising events on local sports cable channels and acting as a triple A-type poker environment for local poker players aspiring to hit the bigger time. The Las Vegas locale for the Season 7 opening event brought a large crowd with numerous known Las Vegas poker pros.
Notables doing well in the event included J.J. Liu, who finished third for $47k, MMA star Heath Herring, who finished fifth, Amanda Baker 12th, Joe Tehan, recent WPT winner in 18th and Darvin Moon in 27th.
Notables who played but didn't cash included Annie Duke, Scotty Nguyen Jennifer Harman, Linda Johnson and Tiffany Michelle. The nationally-syndicated HPT poker show will return to Las Vegas next month for a star-filled charity event co-hosted by Phil Hellmuth and Adrian Peterson. The Golden Nugget event will benefit Starkey Hearing Foundation and promises to attract NFL athletes, A-list pros, and Hollywood celebrities.
