Erik Seidel Wins NBC National Heads-Up Championship
Erik Seidel continued his magical run in 2011 by winning the 2011 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship Sunday at Caesars Palace. He won $750,000 after defeating Chris Moneymaker in the first two matches of the best of three final.
It is difficult to plot a more spectacular year than what Erik Seidel has had. He has won around $4.3 million in the first 9 weeks of 2011.

Seidel has surged up the all time tournament money won list to be on top for the first time in his career, passing both Phil Ivey and now Daniel Negreanu. He now sits with $14,697,297 in live tournament winnings in his career.
On his way to the HU Championship, Seidel defeated Allen Cunningham, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Vanessa Selbst, Andrew Robl and Chris Moneymaker.
“I have competed in the NHPC since 2005 and lost to Annie Duke in the finals at last year’s tournament, so my win today is truly special,” Seidel said following Sunday's win in Las Vegas.
“It is always exciting to compete against my fellow poker players who showcased great skill on the tables this year.”
For Chris Moneymaker, it was a great run and his biggest score since winning the 2005 World Series of Poker, $300k. He defeated John Racener, Daniel “jungleman12” Cates, Doyle Brunson, David Oppenheim and last year's WSOP Champion Jonathan Duhamal before losing to Seidel in the finals.
Chris Moneymaker said: “I tried everything. I tried to check-raise, I tried to bluff him, I tried to trap him. He’s just a true champion.”
Also making the money were semi-finals were Jonathan Duhamel and Andrew Robl. Quarter-finalists who also made the money included David Benyamine, Vanessa Selbst, Olivier Busquet, and David Oppenheim.
NBC will air the broadcast over six consecutive 1-3 hour show Sundays beginning April 17th.
