Years back when competitive DotA was in it's early stages, the Asian scene was widely unknown. We've had the days of the epic MYM vs SK rivalry, then came the godly era of Virtus.Pro. After some time, Asian teams and specifically Chinese teams began to enter the scene. The same might be happening for HoN.
Multiple Chinese Gaming sites and forums have reported on the 10th of January with the same statement:
由欧美游戏开发商S2GAMES开发的仿DOTA网游《HeroesofNewerth》(官方中文名暂定:超神英雄)的中国大陆代理已经确定,竞技游戏门户网站sgamer.com(武汉超玩在线)获得其代理权。《超神英雄》预计在2011年春节后在中国大陆开启首次封闭测试。

“The localized distribution of DotA-like game Heroes of Newerth by S2 Games has been confirmed, with Gaming site sgamer.com obtaining the publishing rights. The Chinese client is scheduled for closed beta testing after the festive Chinese New Year period.”
The Chinese scene has up til now been a mystery, with [5] china being the only known player in the scene having played for team fiVe which is currently SK Gaming. Team Kungfu, China's representative at the Digital Youth Awards had a disappointing outing but the competitive state of the Chinese Qualifiers then were unknown as well.
Ever since the announcement for closed beta was made, Chinese gaming site duowan.com has registered 12727 pre-orders for beta keys at the time of press and the numbers are consistently growing. Hopefully, the numbers will grow as the game expands into the Chinese market, bolstering the competitive scene in the process. Will HoN go through the same path as DotA, with Chinese domination of majority of tournaments? Only time will tell.
