GameAche continues their excellent pre-Digital Youth Awards coverage with a second interview, this time with the captain of world number 1 team Evil Geniuses. Here are parts of the interview which as a whole was an insightful read.
How did you get introduced to Heroes of Newerth and how did you end up joining your current team?
“A while ago I went to a DXD LAN event in SoCal and saw people playing Heroes of Newerth there. It looked really interesting so I went ahead and tried it out. Also helped that a lot of my friends were already playing. I’ve been playing it ever since. For how I joined up with these guys, when I started playing HoN in beta I played with some friends I knew from some DotA inhouse leagues. One day we just decided to make a team called We Heart Pigs and now with a little bit of time and roster changes it became Evil Geniuses.”
Moving over to more recent events, last month you had the opportunity to travel to China to do a promotional event for the Digital Youth Awards as part of your prize for winning the CEVO tournament. What did you think of the experience?
“It was a great trip. The DYA China event was almost like a tour with tour guides and on top of that they provided everything for us. Also I think it was a great cultural experience that I will never forget. It was just an all around great experience.”
Now, in about a week you’ll be competing at the Digital Youth Awards finals in Singapore at GameFEST. Joining you will be top teams like KDe, now known as OK, and TSoG, and underdogs like ICE and PMS Girls. How do you feel going into this event?
“First of all, very excited to see PMS Girls in person! I feel really confident about this tournament since right now we are solidly the best team. I also hope to have a great time with all the players that are coming! They are all great teams, even Team ICE. They improved a lot and it will be pretty tough, but we will come out on TOP! I’m also very excited to see how the Asian teams will play since we don’t know too much about them besides what we saw in the 3 on 3′s in China.”
