Top-ranked SC2 combatants invited to 500$ tournament
TeamLiquid.net recently announced their first StarCraft 2 Invitiational tournament and have invited the best of Europe to compete. Amongst them are two of TeamLiquid's very own staff members Victor "Liquid`Nazgul" Goossens and Jonathan "Frozen Arbiter" Walsh.
The tournament is set to take place on March 27th at 4PM CET/11AM EST and boasts a prize pool of $500 USD. First place will earn himself $300, while second and third place will win $150 and $50 respectively. The $500 prize pool puts the invitational as the second highest prize pool given out by any single tournament thus far in the StarCraft 2 Beta. The only other tournament beating it by over double the amount is the 'Hello, Goodbye Tournament' which is organized by a TL.net member.
The format of the tournament has yet to be announced but previous invitiationals hosted by TeamLiquid have been organized via a group stage and a bracket stage. However the tournament has been advertised with no loser brackets and a single day of straight gaming. A group stage would no doubt prolong the tournament, but would make for a more exciting process.
