Having looked at Group A for MSC 2023, it is now time to take a closer look at Group B – another group where the upset potential is at its peak.
With the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup 2023 only 11 days away, all the teams are deep in their preparations to reach the pinnacle of the event. While we have already looked at Group A, breaking down the team rankings, this time we turn our attention to Group B, which has a great mix of teams from across SEA. From just a quick look, one could see a single mistake be the difference between the knockout stage and being eliminated early.

Group B
EVOS Legends
Fenix Esports
RSG Slate SG
Group B is definitely one of the more interesting ones in MSC 2023, with a mix of teams that could cause chaos in the early stages and later on in the event too. EVOS come in as the MPL Indonesia Season 11 runners-up, having finally made their way back into a commanding position in the region, while RSG Slate SG and Fenix join as winners of MPL SG Season 5 and the Myanmar qualifier, respectively.
EVOS Legends
It has been a few seasons since the White Tigers have really been able to break into the upper echelons of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, falling behind ONIC Esports and Rex Regum Qeon in their region. However, Season 11 brought with it a new look for the team as they brought in both Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera and Jabran Bagus “Branz” Wiloko, bolstering their roster. Even after a poor Regular Season, EVOS came to life in the playoffs, eliminating RRQ and Alter Ego before ONIC put a stop to their championship attempts. The team now look to continue on their upward trajectory with the MSC title in their sights.
Although their Philippines import may be on the bench, Dlar brings with him a wealth of experience from the region, having spent a ton of time alongside ONIC PH. With that said, it is the gold lane which teams need to be wary of, as Branz can bring the heat with a multitude of different heroes. This could be a massive chance for EVOS to remain in the spotlight, but they could see themselves falling into at least second place in Group B, or possibly being eliminated considering their opponent's high chance for upsets.
Fenix Esports
Myanmar is no easy region to conquer, especially when teams such as Burmese Ghouls and Falcon Esports exist – but Fenix managed to overcome all obstacles with relative ease as they secured the region’s single qualifier spot for MSC 2023. Much like the rest of the teams from the region which have previously progressed within international MLBB events, Fenix has a high chance to do the same in Group B and in the entire tournament.
This team seem well versed across the board, able to pick from a massive pool to secure their wins, including matching Diggie with Terizla, securing pickoffs with Franco, and even bringing Natan back into the mix during their qualifier run. Considering the other two teams in this group, Fenix could be the ones to push through into the knockout stage, especially since it is best-of-three series prior to that. With a group this similar, it can be tough to place these teams, but Fenix has proven to be one step ahead at times, meaning that they could be the top seed.
RSG Slate Singapore
MPL SG has been under the control of RSG for three seasons now, as they recently secured the “three-peat” of victories. Having gone through some major changes this year, including a new partnership, RSG brought in some new talent – with Fawzan “Okky” Herdiatna moving into the gold lane role. Even with new players, the team has been dominant, but they also struggle when it comes to facing off against international opponents at times.
Winning on their local front means a lot to the RSG team, but when it comes to going up against teams from around the world, and even other SEA regions, they falter – with constant early exits from the M-Series and previous MSC events. This year they may rely heavily on Okky’s Beatrix to repeat the SAVAGE plays he was able to bring out in the MPL, but the team will most likely fall in the Group Stage if things do not go their way.
As always, nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to MLBB, and even with these predictions, everything is likely to change with a simple mistake or “pocket-strategy” from any of these teams. We will have to wait until June 10 to find out just how things progress with Group B at MSC 2023, as we continue to countdown the days until the action begins.
