It has been a tough few days of Group Stage action from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2024, with many teams seeing their tournament dreams shattered along the way. Today we witnessed the culmination of the action, as Group D ended the proceedings – taking the final two teams into the playoff stage. However, after the shock elimination of Fnatic ONIC in Group C, Group D had no real surprises, as Southeast Asia’s teams showed why they were the best.

Falcons soar through

Group D consisted of both Falcons AP.Bren and Falcon Esports – with the former being the champions of the Philippines and the M5 World Championship, and the latter a stalwart force hailing from Myanmar. The remaining squads were the Chinese contingent featuring Kielvj and CHMA, Xianyou Gaming, and the North Americans previously known as BloodThirsty Kings, Cloud9. After the non-SEA teams both went down 2-0 in their opening day, losses would spell their demise, and it was not long until this occurred.

FCON was the first to break through, taking down XYG without much issue in the first series. With Roger continuing to shine as a top pick for the event, FCON marched through to claim their spot in the Playoffs. The Myanmar team’s final game for the Group Stage would put them up against FCAP, where they were eventually destroyed and pushed into second place. For FCAP, they opened up their day with a dominant performance over C9, who were unable to find their footing, and with SuperMarco securing a MANIAC at the end of their second game, the NA team crumbled. The World Champions went on to claim the top spot in Group D and close out the Group Stage on a high at MSC 2024.

Although C9 and XYG played to a 1-1 draw, nothing could push them into a position anywhere close to the top 2, as they were eliminated from MSC 2024. For FCAP and FCON, the Playoffs were next in their sights as they prepared to fight against the best teams in the world and hope to become the new champions of MSC at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
