Day one of MPL Malaysia’s Season 13 Playoffs has come to an end, with two teams already feeling the sting of elimination.

Today saw the beginnings of the Mobile Legends Professional League Season 13 Playoffs in Malaysia, with four of the six remaining teams fighting for their tournament lives in the Play-in stage. Todak, King Empire, RSG Malaysia, and Team HAQ, all had themselves on the chopping block today, with a loss spelling their elimination from the tournament, and any hopes of reaching the Mid Season Cup 2024. The victorious teams, however, moved into the upper bracket semi-finals, where they would face either Red Giants Esports or HomeBois, respectively – and acquire a lifeline of the lower bracket too.

An Empire rises

Kicking things off today was King Empire and TODAK, which was a series that saw the Swordfish come out on top during Week 4 of the Regular Season. However, with more to play for today, both teams threw everything that they had at one another, giving us a full five game series to start the playoffs. KGE drew first blood, utilising Chip to its full effectiveness, as they ripped through TDK in game one. Realising the power of the Chip, the rest of the series saw it banned away by the team, and things became only slightly easier. Even with a stunning second game win, the Swordfish eventually fell to a 2-3 defeat, making them the first elimination from the MPL MY Season 13 playoffs.

RSG MY HAQ away

Having already taken the win over Team HAQ during the Regular Season, RSG Malaysia continued to dominate their opponents today. It was HAQ who were first on the scoreboard, as they hoped to take their early lead through to a winning series. However, that was their only chance in the series – although they almost fought their way back in game three. Unfortunately for HAQ, after three losses in a row, they were eliminated from the tournament 1-3. RSG MY were able to hold on as they blasted their way through to the next round.

With that, only four teams remained in MPL MY Season 13’s Playoff stage, and now we look through to the weekend for more epic action from both the upper bracket, and whichever teams are unfortunate enough to enter the lower bracket. All of this leads to Sunday, June 2nd, when a champion will be crowned, and that team will qualify to MSC 2024 later this year.
