When it comes to games that share - or have dangerous close - names I think one of the most confusing is when something on an entirely different platform shares that of a famous franchise. Unrelated, but Punch Out: CCG Duel is a new deckbuilding card battler from Goat Games that is set now in pre-registration for iOS and Android!

Goat, the team behind releases such as Dungeon Hunter 6 and King's Throne, offers a fantasy card battler that features over 300 cards and multiple different permutations. Whether you're picking from said roster of cards, the over seven different fantasy races available or using different multi-racial [sic] heroes that can enhance subordinate cards.

Another key selling point is that of the equipment system, meaning you can customise your heroes as you would in a classic RPG. Each level features a different, diverse lineup to challenge you with new strategies, while you can compete against other players on the field of battle or team up to raid dungeons.

Despite the confusing name convention, Punch Out: CCG Duel does look quite interesting. With decent, minimalist art, a huge roster of cards and a variety of different creatures and species to pit against one another (or ally with) it's got everything I think you could ask for in a release for this genre.

At the same time, I think that Goat Games may be putting the cart before the horse a bit with their exclamation that they're planning some big-money tournaments already. I reckon we'll have to wait and see just how well Punch Out: CCG Duel appeals to audiences before that.
