Hearthstone unearths the Lost City of Un’Goro in its latest update

- The Lost City of Un’Goro expansion launches July 8th
- New set and keyword rewards you for synergy
- A major Arena releases alongside the expansion
Season 10 of Battlegrounds may have brought fresh chaos to Hearthstone’s tavern brawls, but it’s the return to a fan-favourite location next. The Lost City of Un’Goro, Hearthstone’s next expansion, launches July 8th with 145 new cards and a mix of fresh mechanics, returning features, and narrative intrigue set deep in the prehistoric Un’Goro Crater.
Longtime players might recognise the name. Hearthstone first explored Un’Goro back in 2017, but this new set charts a different path. You’ll follow Loh, a Tortollan explorer, as he leads an expedition into the long-hidden city, unaware that his guide, Umbra, has her own hidden agenda. Joining them is Elise Starseeker, rounding out a party of familiar faces with more than one surprise in store.
Gameplay-wise, the set introduces Kindred, a new keyword that rewards you for synergy. If you played a minion of the same type or a spell from the same school on your previous turn, Kindred cards get a boost. Quest cards also make a return, with each class getting a new Legendary Quest that starts in your opening hand and unlocks a powerful reward once completed.

Story cards tell tales of previous expeditions into Un’Goro, while Map cards let you Discover a card, and then, if you play that choice right away, you’ll get one of the other two options too. It’s all about exploration, reward, and risk.
On top of the usual Pre-Purchase and Mega Bundle options, Blizzard is also offering a third Sequence Bundle, unlocked after grabbing the first two. The Mega Bundle includes 80 standard packs, 10 golden packs, signature and golden Legendary cards, four Tavern Tickets, and exclusive Umbra cosmetics.

And if that isn’t your speed, a major Arena overhaul lands alongside the expansion. A reworked Arena now caters to newcomers with skill-based matchmaking, while The Underground offers longer runs and bigger rewards once you’ve earned your stripes.
