- Ducktown is an upcoming release from Mobirix
- It mixes rhythm games and virtual pet simulator
- Collect different ducks and solve over 120 different levels
The folks at Mobirix are likely already developers you know, given they've produced a huge variety of casual puzzlers and even adapted some arcade hits like Bubble Bobble to mobile. But it's their latest release that's caught my eye simply for the unusual mix of virtual pet and rhythm game(?).
Yes, this is Duck Town, the new upcoming release from Mobirix that's set to hit iOS and Android on August 27th. Boasting a whole host of adorable ducks to collect, you'll need to take on over 120 levels to continuously grow your family of avians.
What's there to know outside of that? Well, very little considering the only trailer available on Google Play is currently broken. But by a look at the screenshots, you can expect plenty of familiar-looking feathered friends and plenty of fun levels with which to test your rhythm skills.
Stomp to the beatThe only issue I can really see comes with the fact we've not got a crucial preview of the one aspect which dominates all rhythm puzzlers. Which is, how good exactly is the soundtrack? I'd say wait it out a bit until you can hear it because nothing is worse than picking up something in this genre and realising the music is completely grating. It doesn't matter how good anything else is at that point.
But with that aforementioned release date set as August, there's plenty of time to wait; and with the promise of a huge variety of ducks to incubate and simple-to-learn but hard-to-master rhythm gameplay I can see why exactly this might catch your eye.
Still, if you need something to tide you over and prefer the more brain-teasing aspects of rhythm puzzlers, who not go a step further? Check out our list of the top 25 best puzzle games for iOS and Android!
